From the Hancock County Democratic Committee:
BREAKING NEWS:
CLEAN ELECTIONS FUNDING IS BACK!
An infamous typo prevented Clean Elections candidates from collecting additional $5.00 donations to the Clean Elections fund after June 30, thus jeopardizing their ability to fund adequate general election campaigns. House Republicans blocked attempts to fix the typo and restore the program, but on August 16 the Ethics Commission ruled that they have the authority to accept further such donations and make additional disbursements to Clean Elections candidates through October 16.
As a result, Clean Elections candidates now need additional $5 donations in order to qualify for supplemental payments. This is where your help is vital.
Maine House candidates receive $1,275 for every additional 15 donations (maximum 120), and Maine Senate candidates receive an additional $5,075 for every additional 45 donations (maximum 360).
Before the program was cut off prior to June 30, most Hancock County Democratic candidates for the Maine House and Maine Senate had not reached the maximum levels (or close to it). Now that the program is restored, these candidates urgently need more $5 donations to assure they have sufficient funds to run competitive campaigns:
Senate District 6 Christine Therrien
Senate District 7 Louie Luchini
Senate District 8 Bev Uhlenhake
House District 130 Mike Reynolds
House District 131 Nathalie Arruda
House District 132 Nicole Grohoski
House Districts 133, 134 (See note below)
House District 135 Brian Hubbell
House District 136 Kylie Bragdon
House District 137 Doug Bunker
To donate:
- go to www.maine.gov/
cleanelections - click the green contribute button
- enter your voter information
- the system will display the candidates in your district for whom you may make a Clean Elections donation.
Because of this whole Republican sponsored fiasco, our candidates lost about 60 days to collect more $5 donations and now they need your help right away. Please make a donation for both your Maine Senate and the Maine House candidate from your district ASAP.
To be of greatest value, $5 donations made now mean the most. Candidates must plan their budgets and order materials.
Anyone wishing to make an online donation who doesn’t have access to a computer may come into our office at 53 Church Street weekdays from 10 am to 5 pm and use one of our computers to get this done. Our folks will even help you do it.
Note: In House District 133, Sarah Pebworth has already qualified for the maximum level and does not need additional donations. In House District 134, Genevieve McDonald is running with traditional financing. You may donate to her campaign, but may not help with a Clean Elections donation.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP ELECTING
